Working Group 3 Summer Meeting – CASE Measures & Impact to BEM

Meeting Description: 

Join the Working Group 3 Co-Chairs to review and discuss a few CASE measures and their impact on modeling usability, rulesets, and the ACM. The Co-Chairs plan to discuss the following measures and more, time permitting.

1. NR HVAC Space Heating:
   • Measure 1 would result in a mandatory HWST limit of 130°F, which is below the current ACM Reference Manual setpoint of 160°F.
   • Add a section describing 4-pipe dedicated heat recovery chiller and water-to-water heat pump objects to the ACM reference manual.
   • Enhance the thermal energy storage object and ensure it can be configured to provide space heating, and also reflect different efficiency performance depending on if the TES tank uses ice, condenser water, or hot water.
2. MF Domestic Hot Water:
   • California Plumbing Code (CPC) Appendix M Pipe Sizing
   • Pipe Insulation Enhancement
   • Require Balancing Valves
   • Master Mixing Valves
3. MF Restructuring: Envelope, HVAC, Other
   • Slab Perimeter Insulation
   • Visible Transmittance
   • Skylight Properties (Additions and Alterations)
   • Central Ventilation Shaft Sealing
   • Additions and Alterations Clean-Up
   • Snapshot Quality Insulation Installation (QII)
   • Verification (HERS/ATT) Clean-Up
