CalBEM Working Group 1 Webinar: Input on California Regional Approach to LEED v5
May 5 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT

Please join the CalBEM Working Group 1 Co-Chairs and USGBC staff for an informal information-gathering session to share feedback on the approach and key considerations for LEED v5 Energy & Atmosphere Alternative Compliance Paths (ACPs) for California projects subject to Title 24-2025.
USGBC is exploring ways to reduce documentation burden by leveraging Title 24 where it aligns with LEED requirements—including, where practical, recognizing Title 24 equivalence to corresponding ASHRAE 90.1-2019 and/or 90.1-2022 provisions.
Focus areas:
- EAp2: Minimum Energy Efficiency / EAc: Enhanced Energy Efficiency
- Prescriptive or Energy Simulation with envelope backstop
- BD+C EAc3: 10 points (New Construction); 7 points (Core & Shell)
- ID+C EAc2: 12 points
- EAp3: Fundamental Commissioning
- EAp4: Energy Metering and Reporting
- EAc1: Electrification
- Requirements: no on-site combustion; weighted average efficiency
- 5 (BD+C: New Construction); 4 (BD+C: Core & Shell); 5 (ID+C – out of scope for this iteration of California ACPs)
- BD+C EAc2: Reduce Peak Thermal Loads (5 points)
- Precondition: Envelope—no worse than ASHRAE 90.1-2019 or 2022
- Option 4: Peak Thermal Load Reduction (3 points)
Further background:
- LEED v5
- California ACPs recognized for earlier versions of LEED and Title-24
- LEED v5 Energy Efficiency ACPs for Canada (similar format under consideration for California ACPs)
